About the Speaker
Kathleen Kay Amora, MSc, CSP-51¶¯ÂþÍø
Kathleen Kay Amora is a speech-language pathologist who graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from the University of the Philippines-Manila. After graduation, she worked with children with diverse language and motor speech difficulties as a speech-language pathologist; trained interns as a clinical supervisor and taught undergraduate students as a guest lecturer at the same university. In 2017, she received the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Scholarship from the European Commission to pursue her graduate studies in Europe. She recently completed her European MSc in Clinical Linguistics (EMCL+) degree at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), University of Potsdam (Germany) and University of Eastern Finland (Finland). For her thesis and internship, she worked on the narrative development of Tagalog-English bilingual children and adults at the Leibniz-Center for General Linguistics in Berlin, Germany. Currently, Kathleen is a recipient of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowship from the European Commission to continue her doctoral studies in Europe. She is currently affiliated with the Brain Imaging Center at the Research Center for Natural Sciences in Budapest, Hungary as an Early Stage Researcher/Ph.D. student under the European Training Network (ETN): NEO-PRISM-C which studies neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) and at the Multilingualism Doctoral School at the University of Pannonia in Veszprém, Hungary. Her primary research interests include language acquisition and language disorders in the areas of narratives, bilingualism, and literacy (reading and spelling) and using neurobehavioral and neurophysiological techniques in investigating language disorders.
